UTT-3000 plant is the most cost-effective in the world time-proved technology for oil shale recycling. Nowadays three UTT-3000 plants operate around the world. Two of them were built in 1980 and proved high level of reliability and efficiency during operating period. In 2009 a new plant was brought into operation in the town of Kohtla-Jarve. It became a starting point in the new era of the world oil shale industry. During nearest 10 years, construction of 100 UTT-3000 plants all over the world is planned in the frames of current projects of the TTU Ltd.
Assimilation of UTT-3000 plants can be divided into three stages:
1. On the first stage (1980 - 1984) which turned to be synchronized with the ending of installation works defects and errors identified during short run-ups (up to one day) were corrected. They were mainly the defects of standardized facilities (except for bearing units, hydraulic ash removing system, construction of lining coating): band conveyors, gas pumps, electrical filters, hard resin pumps, dredging pumps and so forth.
2. On the second stage (1985 - 1989) technological and structural defects revealed themselves during more long-time operating period (from one to several days) were removed. They were mainly augers of electrical filters, systems of dry dust removal from degrit cyclones of gas-vapour mixture and installation of recycle mode for gas-turbine fuel and petrol. Malfunctions took place because of non-conformance of the plant with design specifications for fractional yields, burning of nonstandard resins as well as because of hidden defects of lining coating and embedded metal details, unsuccessful operation of hydraulic ash removing system of the second and third stages of cyclones, sewage disposal facilities and so forth.
Technological and build-in defects of nonstandard facilities resulted from large-scale transformation from UTT-500 to UTT-3000 (sixfold increase of productiveness). Naturally they couldn’t be modelled accurately upon designing. However there were no fundamental technological deviations from the established specifications of the project (for example, as for productiveness), and during the mentioned period detected problems were solved.
3. The third stage (from 1990 till nowadays) can be named a period of commercial service of the plant. It is characterized by continuation of arrangements to improve operating process and facilities, specifically increase of continuous operating period, and by special attention to environmental requirements.
At present the main technical and mechanical problems concerning with service of UTT-3000 are as good as settled.
Since 1996 UTT-3000 plants are being used for recycling organic wastes along with oil shale. Possibility to recycle crushed automobile tyres, resin wastes (tyres), oil residues from tanks, oil contaminated soils and so forth has been confirmed by practice. Crushed automobile tyres cad be recycled in quantity of 10% of weight (because of the metal cord), and other wastes in the quantity of 25-30% of weight without change of the regular operation mode of pyrolysis.
Recycling of different materials along with oil shale appears to be a magnification factor for effectiveness and economical efficiency upon service of UTT-3000 plant (output of gas and summing oil becomes higher).
Nowadays UTT-3000 is the plant number one in the world for oil shale recycling!
